TAMPA (Oct. 21, 2017) — The University of South Florida women's soccer team will host the American Athletic Conference defending champions on senior day Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Bulls improved to 6-1 in conference play Thursday night, when they defeated Temple, 1-0, with a goal in the 63
rd minute. USF has just two regular season matches left, including UConn and UCF. Winning both would mean the regular season conference title, and hosting the conference tournament in November.
USF's scoring offense is currently 24
th in the country (29 goals, 2.23 per game). Sophomore forward
Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada) ranks No. 6 nationally in shots on goal per game (2.62), No. 8 in points per game (1.92) and checks in at No. 10 in shots per game (4.69).
The Opponent
The Huskies are coming off a tough 2-0 loss to No. 7 UCF as they make their way to Tampa for Sunday's game. UConn had a 19-3-1 season last year, when they defeated SMU in the conference tournament finals, before making it to two rounds in the NCAA tournament.
This season, the Huskies are 6-7-3, and 4-3-0 in The American with their only conference losses to Cincinnati (1-0), Memphis (3-2) and UCF (2-0). USF saw UConn twice last season, falling on both occasions. The Huskies defeated the Bulls in Connecticut, 3-1, in the regular season and again at its home field, 2-0, during the conference tournament. UConn leads the series against USF, 8-6-1.

The USF women's soccer team has posted five consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and six in the last seven years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. Schilte-Brown reached her 100th win with USF last season, and will begin her eleventh season as head coach in 2017. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014 & 2015.
