TAMPA (Oct. 26, 2017) — The USF women's soccer team will travel to UCF on Friday and compete for the American Athletic Conference regular season title. The Bulls will also battle for six points in the War on I-4.
                        
USF looks to extend its six-match win streak on Friday and close the regular season on top of the league standings. The Bulls have clinched a first-round bye in the conference tournament and one of the top two seeds.
 
The Bulls' scoring offense ranks No. 21 nationally, and sophomore Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) leads with 10 goals this season, and seven assists.
 
The Opponent
The No. 7 Knights are 12-1-1 this season with a loss from No. 4 South Carolina and a draw at conference opponent Cincinnati. UCF holds an eight-game win streak, and has allowed only two goals since the beginning of the streak. 
 
The rivalry matchup will be the Knights' third straight home match, and the end of the regular season for both teams. The Knights lead the series against the Bulls, 10-2-2, with last year's match ending in a tie, 1-1. USF last defeated UCF in 2015 with a 1-0 double-overtime win in the conference semifinals.
 
Notables
  • USF is currently second in the conference standings, just one point behind UCF.
  • Sophomore Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada) is ranked in the NCAA top 10 in three categories: assists per game (No. 6, 0.57), points per game (No. 6, 1.93) and shots on goal per game (No. 5, 2.50).
  • Viens leads the team in goals with 10, and in assists with seven.
  • The Bulls have tallied 30 goals and 32 assists in their 14 games this season.
  • USF has outshot opponents 240-187, and has had 113 shots on goal over its opponents' 81.
  • Senior goalkeeper Kat Elliott, (Bradenton, Fla.) is 11-3 this season and has recorded 1,182 minutes in goal with 58 saves.
 
WAR ON I-4 RIVALRY
The War on I-4 represents a long-standing and passionate rivalry between the fan bases of two of the nation's largest and fastest growing universities. The Orlando and Tampa Bay metropolitan areas, which form the fourth-largest media market in the nation, are connected by 100 miles of Interstate 4 (I-4).
 
The official recognition of the rivalry and the traditional name, first established by the fans, creates an annual series of scored competitions across multiple sports programs. The War On I-4 rivalry series officially began Sept. 21, 2016 with a competition between the two schools' volleyball programs.
