Women’s Soccer Begins Road Swing at SMU
TAMPA (Oct. 4, 2017) — The University of South Florida women's soccer team visits Dallas for a conference matchup with SMU on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
The Bulls improved to 3-1 in conference play Sunday after defeating Tulsa, 3-0, in the first weekend at Corbett Stadium in over a month. USF has scored three goals in both of the last two matches, and is currently third in the conference standings behind Cincinnati and UCF.
The conference honored three Bulls after their performances last week including senior
Kat Elliott (Bradenton, Fla.), who earned goalkeeper of the week honors after starting her 51
st consecutive match for USF. Sophomore
Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada) and senior
Grace Adams (Accra, Ghana) were named to the honor roll. Viens scored two goals and two assists last week, and Adams continues to be a dynamic asset to USF's defense. Adams helped to limit Memphis to just one goal, and Tulsa scoreless while scoring a goal herself by converting a penalty kick against Memphis.
The Opponent
The Mustangs (5-3-3, 0-1-1) have seen two conference opponents so far this season, drawing Memphis, 3-3, and losing to Tulsa, 3-2. SMU most recently picked up a win at home against New Mexico State last weekend, 2-1.
USF leads the series against the Mustangs, 2-1-1, but it was SMU who snapped the Bulls' 8-match win streak last season when conference play opened at Corbett Stadium. After nearly a two-hour rain delay, the Bulls took the pitch against the Mustangs, who scored just 45 seconds into the 1-0 match.
