TAMPA (Oct. 8, 2017) — The University of South Florida women's soccer team is heading to Houston for a conference matchup with Houston on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
The Bulls improved to 4-1 in conference play Thursday after defeating SMU, 3-2, on the road. USF has scored three goals in all of the last three matches, and is currently third in the conference standings behind Cincinnati and UCF.
Sophomore forwards
Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.), and
Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada), have created a dynamic force for the Bulls' offense, creating many scoring opportunities. Against SMU Megrath had two goals, and Viens had two assists. Freshman
Katie Kitching (Bedale, England), also scored against SMU, earning her second goal as a Bull.
The Opponent
The Bulls and the Cougars last met just over a year ago, at Corbett Stadium. USF defeated Houston, 2-1, and leads the series, 8-4-0. The Cougars have faced three conference opponents so far this season and are 1-2 in conference play. They picked up a win over Tulsa, 3-1, but fell to Memphis, 2-1, in overtime, and dropped a 4-0 shutout to No. 10 UCF.

- The Bulls have tallied 24 goals and 21 assists in just 11 games this season.
- USF has outshot opponents 178-144, and has had 86 shots on goal over its opponents' 65.
- Viens is ranked 5th in the nation in shots on goal per game, 17th in points per game, 29th in goals per game and 30th in total points.
- Viens leads in goals with 7, and in assists with 6.
- Megrath now has four goals this season, and one assist.
- Goalkeeper, senior Kat Elliott (Bradenton, Fla.) is 8-3 this season and has recorded over 923 minutes in goal.

The USF women's soccer team has posted five consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and six in the last seven years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. Schilte-Brown reached her 100th win with USF last season, and will begin her eleventh season as head coach in 2017. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014 & 2015.
