TAMPA, DEC. 15, 2017 –
Kitija Laksa solidified her spot in the USF record books Friday night, as the junior became the second player in program history to score 40 points in a single game. Laksa had a near perfect night in the Bulls' 108-48 victory at the Sun Dome.
Laksa (Riga, Latvia) only missed one three-point attempt, the first shot she took in the opening minute of the contest. From there, Laksa made a career-high 11 three-point field goals en route to a new career-high 40 points. The junior finished 13-for-16 from the floor and 11-for-12 from behind the arc. She added six rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals in 30 minutes of action.
Laia Flores (Mataro, Spain) recorded her first career double-double, registering 14 points and 11 assists in the Bulls' first 100-point game of the season. In total, five USF players scored in double figures.
Alyssa Rader (Thornton, Colo.) scored 13 points to go with six rebounds while
Tamara Henshaw (Palm Coast, Fla.) and
Laura Ferreira (Lisboa, Portugal) each added 10 points.
USF (8-2) never trailed in the contest and shot a season-high 59.7 percent. The team connected on 21-of-31 three-point field goal attempts. The Bulls broke their program record of three-point field goals made in a single game. USF boasted 30 assists on 37 field goals and nine of the 10 Bulls that saw action scored.

Notables
- Kitija Laksa became the second player in program history to score 40-plus points. The junior's 40 points is a new class record, surpassing Janae Stokes ('10) 39 points vs. Grambling (12/18/08). Shantia Grace ('09) owns the single game scoring record with 44 points, which she reached as a senior against Coppin State (11/23/08).
- Laksa tied Wanda Guyton ('89) with nine 30-plus point career outings.
- In NCAA DI, only three players have scored at least 40 points. Louisville's Asia Durr scored 47, Taeler Deer (Texas State) scored 44 and Lauren Dickerson (Miami, Ohio) scored 42.
- Laksa's 11 three-point field goals ties Amber Ramirez (TCU) and Kendall Spray (UT Martin) for the most three-point field goals made this season in NCAA DI.
- Laksa secured her 24-consecutive double-digit scoring game in the first quarter, scoring 17.
- Laksa has made two-plus three-pointers in each of her past 18 games and at least one in the past 25 outings.
- USF returned to the Sun Dome for the first time since Nov. 20. The Bulls improved to 5-0 at home this season.
- Since 2014, USF boasts a 43-8 record on its home court. The Bulls own a 21-5 record at home in The American.
- Laia Flores has made seven three-point field goals in her last two outings. Friday was the first time in her career the senior turned in back-to-back outings with two-or-more three-point field goals.
- The Bulls' scored 100 points for the first time since scoring 129-points against Saint Francis U on Dec. 14, 2016.
- The last time a USF player secured a double-double with points and assists was Nov. 30, 2013 when Andrell Smith ('13) scored 18 points to go with 11 assists at Louisville.

USF notched its fifth consecutive 20-win season. The Bulls tallied its 20th win in their 24th contest of the season which tied the fastest any program has reached 20 wins. This is the eighth 20-win season in program history and head coach Jose Fernandez has been at the helm for all eight 20-win seasons. The 2014-15 team reached 20 wins in 24 games, and still currently holds the best record for most wins in a season (27).
USF has made 13 postseason tournament appearances and had five NCAA Tournament berths in Head Coach Jose Fernandez's 17 seasons. The all-time winningest coach in program history, Fernandez has guided USF to eight 20-win seasons, two WNIT final four appearances, the 2009 WNIT championship and won more than 300 games.
