TAMPA, JULY 27, 2017Cristina Ferral continues to reach new heights in her soccer career after serving as a standout defender for USF.

Weeks after playing for the Mexican national team, Ferral will become the second player from Mexico to compete in the French League after signing with Olympique de Marseille.

According to FutMexNation.com, it's been nearly 30 years since a women's player from Mexico suited up for a French League team and Ferral heads to her new soccer destination with plenty of confidence. Previously a member of Mexico's U17 and U20 teams, Ferral made her way onto the field in the second half of her national team's 1-0 loss to Sweden in a friendly match on July 8.

Before her call-up to the national team, Ferral was pursuing her master's degree at Tec De Monterrey in Mexico. The 24-year-old graduated from USF in the spring of 2016 after playing for the Bulls from 2014-15. Ferral logged 44 games of experience, totaling three goals, seven assists and 74 shots. Her stellar defensive skills helped USF post 21 shutouts during her time in Green and Gold.
