TAMPA, SEPT. 19, 2017 – The University of South Florida men's soccer team hosts in-state rival North Florida Wednesday at Corbett Stadium. The 7 p.m. match will be broadcast via Facebook Live.
 
In the Bulls' Fan Day event, the first 50 students will receive free t-shirts. As part of the promotion, the concession stand will offer special deals that include discounts on hot dogs, frozen lemonade, popcorn and pretzels. As part of the program's effort to bring the taste of Tampa Bay to Corbett Stadium, the local menu feature will be Citrus Glazed chicken wings.
 
In his first start this season, Christian Knight (Odessa, Fla.) recorded two saves in his second career shutout for the Bulls. USF earned the 1-0 victory thanks to a goal by sophomore Stephen Rudderham (Tampa, Fla.) as the clock expired in the first half.
 
USF (2-3) averages 14.0 shots per game, a league best, and its 1.20 goals per game ranks fourth in The American. Bradley Farias (Indiantown, Fla.) continues to lead the Bulls with five points this season (2 goals, 1 assist).
 
The Opponent
North Florida (1-3-1) tied UConn 2-2 in double overtime in Storrs, Conn. after a 10-day hiatus due to Hurricane Irma. Adrian Nunez leads the Ospreys with three goals and six points on the season.
 
Wednesday's match marks the third meeting between the Ospreys and the Bulls. USF owns a 2-0 series record, both meetings have taken place in Tampa.  
 
Notables
  • Sophomore forward Stephen Rudderham landed on the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll after scoring the Bulls' game-winning goal Sunday, the league announced Monday.
  • USF has reached 13+ shots in all but one match this season. At Corbett Stadium, the Bulls average 18.0 shots per game.
  • USF has not allowed a single goal at Corbett Stadium.
  • The Bulls have turned in two shutouts this season, both have been at home. (Aug. 28, 3-0 vs. Lipscomb and Sept. 17, 1-0 vs. LMU)
 
On Dec. 18 Bob Butehorn was appointed the head coach the USF men's soccer program. A member of the University of Tampa's 1981 national championship team and a three-time conference coach of the year, Butehorn previously led Florida Gulf Coast University's men's soccer program to six conference regular season championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and Top 25 rankings in five seasons since 2010.
 
The Bulls concluded the season as The American regular season champions and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls finished the season with a 10-6-4 overall record and a 6-1-0 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
