TAMPA, FLA., SEPT. 20, 2017 – The University of South Florida men's soccer offense continues to ignite Corbett Stadium during the Bulls' perfect run at home this season.
USF improved to 3-0 at home with a 5-1 rout of in-state rival North Florida on Wednesday night.
Tomasz Skublak (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) and
Adrian Billhardt (Berlin, Germany) each scored a pair of goals while
Bradley Farias (Indiantown, Fla.) added one goal and two assists. USF (3-3) converted five of six shots on goal and all five goals were assisted.
Skublak scored the game-winner in the fifth minute after Farias found him on the run. Skublak's first attempt was saved but he scored on the rebound for a 1-0 lead.
Just over one minute later, Billhardt knocked in his first goal of the night, Farias was again credited with the assist.
In the 31
st minute, Skublak put the Bulls up, 3-0, after a play developed off of
Gonzalo Rodriguez's (Coustituciou, Chile) defensive stop. Rodriguez sent the ball up the right side and Billhardt crossed to Skublak, who slotted it in from 10 yards out.
Farias opened the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 53
rd minute. Billhardt and Gomez were credited with assists. Billhardt sealed the victory in the 57
th minute, scoring on a pass from Skublak.
A USF penalty in the box ended up rewarding North Florida (1-4-1) with a goal by Adrian Nunez.
Christian Knight (Odessa, Fla.) improved to 2-0 on the season. The junior made five saves in 90 minutes.

"I feel like we did really well. Other than the late goal that they scored on the penalty, everything went well. We just have to move forward and build upon today. I feel like we're starting to sync and unify as one. We all have a goal and we all want reach that goal, so we are working hard together to get there."
KEY STAT:
5-of-6: USF scored on five of six shots on goal taken. On the night, the Bulls totaled nine shots. Billhardt scored two goals on two shots taken.
NOTABLES:
- Wednesday marked the first time since Aug. 31, 2007 that USF scored five goals in a single match. USF defeated UCF, 5-2, in Tampa. That same season, USF scored six goals against American, Sept. 15 in a 6-1 victory, the most goals scored in a single match since 2000.
- Skublak scored his first and second goals of his career at USF.
- Billhardt scored his second and third goals of his career.
- USF has only allowed one goal at Corbett Stadium.

On Dec. 18 Bob Butehorn was appointed the head coach the USF men's soccer program. A member of the University of Tampa's 1981 national championship team and a three-time conference coach of the year, Butehorn previously led Florida Gulf Coast University's men's soccer program to six conference regular season championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and Top 25 rankings in five seasons since 2010.
The Bulls concluded the season as The American regular season champions and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls finished the season with a 10-6-4 overall record and a 6-1-0 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
