Game Notes
TAMPA (Sept. 27, 2017) — The University of South Florida women's soccer team will return to Corbett Stadium Thursday at 7 p.m. for the Bulls' Salute to Service game against Memphis. The first 400 fans at the game will receive a soccer scarf, and all military personnel will receive free admission for up to four people with a valid military ID.
After three straight road matches and cancellations due to Hurricane Irma, including the loss of the home match against Mississippi State, the Bulls will be playing at Corbett Stadium for the first time in more than a month.
USF kicked off conference play with a split weekend, defeating ECU 2-1, and dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker to Cincinnati. The Bulls played a strong 88 minutes keeping the score tied, 0-0, shooting six close shots on goal, but the Bearcats defeated the Bulls with a goal off a corner kick in the final minutes.
The Opponent
The Bulls lead the Tigers in the regular season series, 9-4-1. USF has never lost to Memphis at home. Last season, Memphis defeated USF, 3-1, in a late October match.
The Tigers opened the season with six straight wins, and their first loss was to Ole Miss, 5-4. Memphis tied SMU, 3-3, to open conference play, followed by a 2-1 win over Houston. This will be the third conference match for both teams.
