Bulls Fall in ITA Regional Championship
TAMPA (Jan. 28, 2018) – The Bulls battled the No. 9 Gators as well as the elements in a tough, 4-0 loss in the ITA Regional Championship on Sunday afternoon.
After Florida clinched the doubles point, the match was moved to indoor courts due to weather conditions in Gainesville, Fla. Sophomore
Jakub Wojcik had already begun his match on court five before it was moved indoors, so his match as well as the No. 1 and No. 2 spots began once the teams warmed up inside. Wojcik dropped his first set, but fought to a third set with a 6-4 win in the second before falling, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Senior
Grayson Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) played an impressive first set against No. 8 Alfredo Perez (Havana, Cuba), taking him to a close tiebreak loss 7-6(6), before falling 6-2 in the second set.
Alberto Barroso-Campos fell to No. 7 Johannes Ingeldsen (Copenhagen, Denmark), 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, the Bulls battled a tough ranked lineup with the ITA's No. 1, No. 10 and No. 11 doubles tandems in the country. Sophomores
Sean Burnette (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and
Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) fell, 6-3, to No. 10 McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale. Senior
Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) and Wojcik fell, 6-2, to No. 11 Oliver Crawford and Chase Perez-Blanco.

Head coach Ashley Fisher will begin his second year at the helm of the program for the 2018 season after leading the Bulls to a conference championship and the NCAA tournament in his first year as head coach during the 2017 season.
