McClanahan Named A Perfect Game All-American

TAMPA, Jan. 9, 2018 – USF baseball's Shane McClanahan (Cape Coral, Fla.) was named a preseason All-American by Perfect Game, as announced Tuesday.

The redshirt-sophomore was named as a second team pitcher and is one of six players from the American Athletic Conference recognized by Perfect Game. Click HERE for the full list of PG preseason All-Americans.

McClanahan was a unanimous all-conference choice in December and was named a freshman All-American by Perfect Game, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in 2017.

As one of the leaders of a pitching staff that led the nation in strikeouts per nine innings in 2017, McClanahan paced The American with 12.32 strikeouts per nine innings which was good for eighth in the country. McClanahan finished ninth nationally allowing 5.68 hits per nine innings a season ago. He is also a projected top-10 pick in the 2018 June MLB Draft, which would make him the highest drafted player in program history.

The Bulls open practice on Jan. 26 and begin the 2018 campaign at home with a three-game series against North Carolina. For the complete 2018 schedule, click HERE.
