Weiss Named Conference Special Teams Player of the Week

TAMPA, OCT. 15, 2018 – USF sophomore kicker Coby Weiss (Gainesville) was named the Co-Special Teams Player of the Week and junior running back Jordan Cronkrite (Miami) earned Honor Roll recognition by the American Athletic Conference following their contributions to the Bulls' 25-24 victory at Tulsa on Friday.
 
Weiss earned the Bulls' fourth conference player of the week honor for the 2018 season and USF players earned recognition for the sixth week, continuing a string of conference honors following every game of the 2018 season to date. Weiss joins Cronkrite (Week 6), Blake Barnett (Week 3) and Terrence Horne (Week 2) in earning player of the week honors on the year.
 
29099Weiss was 2-of-2 on field goals at Tulsa, including a clutch 22-yard, game-winner with 2 seconds remaining in the game to cap the Bulls' comeback from 14 down entering the fourth quarter. It marked the first game-winning field goal for the Bulls since 2013. Weiss is now 6-of-8 on field goals on the year, having hit his last six.
 
Cronkrite, who previously earned conference honor roll recognition in Week 4, ran for 151 yards and a 66-yard touchdown at Tulsa. He enters Week 8 ranked third nationally and second in The American in rushing yards per game (151.4) and yards per carry (8.05) and is riding a string of four straight 100-yard games into USF's Homecoming clash with UConn on Saturday.
 
One of just eight remaining unbeaten teams in FBS football, USF (6-0; 2-0 American) moved into the Top 20 for the 31st time in program history checking it an No. 20 in the Amway Coaches Poll and No. 21 in the Associated Press Poll.
 
USF returns to Raymond James Stadium, where it has won 19 of its last 22 games, on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. Homecoming clash with UConn (1-5; 0-3 American). The Bulls have won six straight games against the Huskies and will be looking to equal the program's best-ever start by improving to 7-0 for the second straight season. The Bulls are 34-6 in their last 40 games, a mark that is tied with Oklahoma for the fourth-best mark nationally over each team's last 40 contests and trails only Alabama (38-2), Clemson (36-4) and Ohio State (35-5).
 
Saturday's game will be televised by CBS Sports Network and can be heard live on the USF Sports Network (820AM; iHeart Radio Bulls Unlimited).
