Bulls in the NFL: Week 5 Update

Marquez Valdes-Scantling is making an impact in his first NFL season with the Green Bay Packers.
USF's season leader in receiving yards made the most of his second straight start, posting career highs in catches (7) and receiving yards (68) along with hauling in his first NFL touchdown catch from 3 yards out in Green Bay's 31-23 loss at Detroit last Sunday.
So far this season, Valdes-Scantling has nine catches for 109 yards (12.1 ypc) through five games. The versatile St. Petersburg native also has returned a kickoff 21 yards and made two solo special teams tackles.
Valdes-Scantling was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Packers after setting USF's new season receiving record with 879 yards in 2017. After playing two seasons at NC State, Valdes-Scantling finished his collegiate career with 119 receptions for 1,832 yards and 12 touchdowns.

- DT DEADRIN SENAT: Atlanta's third-round draft pick made his first NFL start, posting four total tackles and a QB hurry in the Falcons' 41-17 loss at Pittsburgh. Season stats – 11 total tackles (seven solo) in five games.
CB DEATRICK NICHOLS: The first-year pro made one tackle on special teams in Arizona's 28-18 win over San Francisco. Season stats – one tackle in two games.
- CB KAYVON WEBSTER: The sixth-year pro started in his season debut for Houston, making one tackle and playing two snaps before exiting the game with an injury.
- DE ERIC LEE: The second-year pro logged in 14 snaps (eight on defense) in Detroit's 31-23 win over Green Bay. Season stats – one tackle in two games.
- DT TERRELL MCCLAIN: The eighth-year pro made one solo tackle in Atlanta's 41-17 loss at Pittsburgh. Season stats – five tackles in five games (four starts).
- DE JASON PIERRE-PAUL: The ninth-year pro and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a bye week. Season stats – 17 total tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble in four games (four starts).
- LB AARON LYNCH: The fifth-year pro and the Chicago Bears had a bye week. Season stats - through four games (one start), Lynch has totaled five tackles, two sacks and an interception.
- RB MARLON MACK: Mack Attack was inactive for Indianapolis' 38-24 loss at New England. Mack will be back as the Colts' starter once he returns from his injuries, according to a USA Today report. Season stats – 10 rushes for 34 yards, 1 catch for 2 yards in one game (one start).
- DT BRUCE HECTOR: The first-year pro was recently signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. Hector has played in four games with the Eagles this season and made their initial 53-man roster.
- C AUSTIN REITER: The third-year pro was claimed off waivers by Kansas City last month and was inactive for the Chiefs' 30-14 win over Jacksonville.
- DE MIKE LOVE: The first-year pro is on the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.
- RB QUINTON FLOWERS: USF's former record-breaking quarterback is on the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad.
- LB NIGEL HARRIS: The Tennessee Titans are signing the second-year pro to their practice squad Tuesday, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic.
- LB RESHARD CLIETT: The sixth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is on the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad.
ABOUT USF FOOTBALL
USF posted its second straight 10-win season in 2017 (10-2) by winning its second straight Birmingham Bowl with a 38-34 victory over Texas Tech. USF is one of just 15 teams nationally to win 20-plus games in the last two seasons (21-4) and posted a program-record 20 straight weeks ranked in the top 25, reaching as high as No. 13 in Week 8 of the 2017 season. The Bulls have won five of their last six bowl appearances and made nine (6-3) total bowl appearances in 21 seasons, including a current run of three straight bowls.
