No. 20/13 Bulls Take on No. 5/4 Seminoles in NCAA Round 2

TAMPA, Nov. 15, 2018 – USF women's soccer will continue its historic journey in the NCAA tournament Friday night against the top-seeded No. 5/4 Seminoles at 5 p.m. at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahassee.
 
No. 20/13 USF (15-3-0, 8-1-0) began its road to the College Cup last Saturday when it hosted the preliminary round of the NCAA tournament and scored the most goals in program history during an NCAA tournament match with a 5-1 win over UAlbany.
 
USF had five different goal-scorers, including one from every academic class, with three goal-scorers also earning assists. Senior Jordan Tuttle, juniors Aubrey Megrath and Evelyne Viens, sophomore Leah Ferlin and freshman Sydny Nasello each scored with Viens, Ferlin and Nasello all earning an assist.
 
USF has been ranked in one or both of the national polls (United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer) since the first week of the season, and currently checks in at No. 20/13. USF is seeking its first Sweet 16 trip in program history.

FSU (16-4-2, 9-2-2)
The Seminoles host the second and third round of the NCAA tournament as a top seed for the seventh time in school history. The Noles earned an automatic bid to the tournament when they defeated UNC in the AAC Championship for their fifth title in the last sixth seasons. FSU shut out Loyola Chicago in its first-round match last weekend, 1-0, for its 13th consecutive shutout at home in the NCAA postseason.
 
The Noles are 42-1-0 in NCAA tournament play at home. This season, FSU has seen 14 different goal-scorers, led by Deyna Castellanos with nine goals. The Seminoles lead the series against the Bulls, 8-0-1, dating back to 1997.
