Javain Brown Set to Play with Jamaica in CONCACAF U-20 Championship

TAMPA, Fla., Nov 2, 2018 --USF men's soccer academic redshirt Javain Brown will represent his country, Jamaica, in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Brandenton, Fla., beginning Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. vs. Grenada. 
 
Brown, an academic redshirt, is in his first year at USF with the men's soccer program and will be eligible to compete alongside the Bulls in 2019. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, he will play a minimum of four games in the green, yellow and black with Jamaica, after receiving an NCAA waiver to participate in the championship. 
 
The first matchup is slated for Friday evening against Grenada, before Sunday's match against Nicaragua at 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday, Jamaica will take on Mexico at 7 p.m., before facing Aruba Thursday, Nov. 8, at 6:45 p.m. Jamaica's last guaranteed match is Saturday Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. vs. Saint Martin. 
 
All CONCACAF matches will be played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The competition will determine the four CONCACAF representatives at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. The United States are the defending champions. 
 
About USF Men's Soccer
The Bulls concluded the 2018 regular season with a 7-7-2 overall record and  American Athletic Conference 4-1-2 mark. Head Coach Bob Butehorn leads the Bulls in his second season at the helm.
