Thompson to Join Austin Bold as Goalkeeper Coach

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 27, 2018 –USF men's soccer volunteer assistant coach Ryan Thompson has been named the goalkeeper coach and serve as a goalkeeper to the United Soccer League's expansion team, Austin Bold FC in Austin, Texas.
Thompson has been with USF for the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach working with goalkeepers, where he helped the Bulls become known for their depth and fortitude at the net across the state. Previously, Thompson served in the same role at his alma mater, the University of Tampa, and as the Director of Goalkeeping at the West Florida Flames Development Academy. The Kingston, Jamaica native earned 12 caps with the Jamaica national team and earned six wins and eight starts.
"I am truly grateful for this opportunity and thrilled to start the season," said Thompson in a press release. "I can't wait to see what this season will bring."
Austin Bold FC is preparing for its inaugural season in 2019 with preseason kicking off in February.

The Bulls concluded the 2018 regular season with a 7-8-2 overall record and American Athletic Conference 4-1-2 mark. Senior striker was named first team all-conference while junior midfielder Alex Zis was named second team all-conference. Avionne Flanagan, a sophomore defender was named second team all-conference, while Henrique Gallina, freshman defender, was named to the All-Rookie team.
