TAMPA, Fla.  Nov. 29, 2018 –The USF women's basketball team returns to the Yuengling Center on Friday night to take on New Hampshire at 6 p.m. in a double-header with the men's basketball team, which will face Colgate at 8:30 p.m. 
 
USF (5-2) is receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today top-25 polls and is coming off a 1-2 split in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, where the Bulls defeated UCLA 60-56 in the final game of the tournament. Sydni Harvey (Nashville, Tenn.) stood out for the Bulls, scoring 52 points in three games including 10-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc in the tournament, where she was named to the Tournament All-Star team. 
 
The Bulls begin a four-game homestand on Friday, beginning with New Hampshire on Nov. 30, before taking on George Washington on Dec. 9, Grambling State on Dec. 15 and Vermont on Dec. 17. 
 
Three Bulls are averaging in double figures on the season, led by Laura Ferreira (Lisboa, Portugal) with 18.3 points per game, while freshman Sydni Harvey is adding 14.6 points per game and Beatriz Jordao (Pombal, Portugal) is contributing 11.9 points per game. Alyssa Rader (Thornton, Colo.) leads USF on the boards with 7.9 rebounds per game. 
Additionally, Beatriz Jordao leads the American Athletic Conference in field-goal percentage, shooting 67.9 percent on the season on a 36-of-53 clip.  
 
The Opponent
New Hampshire enters the matchup with a 1-6 record this season, its only win coming against Bryant University on Nov. 25. The Wildcats are coming off of a 31-point loss to Boston University on Wednesday night, falling 60-39 on the road. The Wildcats now travel to Tampa to face the Bulls for the third time in the series history. USF leads the all-time series 2-0, facing the Wildcats in 1990 and most recently in 2007. All three meetings will have taken place in Tampa.  
 
New Hampshire has two players averaging in double figures and Maggie Ahearn just outside that criteria with 9.2 per game. Kari Brekke is averaging 10.0 per game and the team's leading scoring is the versatile Ashley Storey. Storey is leading the Wildcats with 16.9 points per game and is also leading the team in blocks, steals and rebounds.
 
Harvey Honored as Freshman of the Week 
Sydni Harvey (Nashville, Tenn.) was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week after her solid performance last week in paradise. Harvey set three consecutive career highs in points scored at each game in the Paradise Jam, where she averaged 17.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She began her week with 16 points against Kentucky, followed with 17 points against North Carolina and capped the tournament with 19 points in the Bulls' win over UCLA. She had a career-high four three-pointers made in two games last week and shot 42.5 percent from the field last week.

  • Laura Ferreira is USF's leading scorer this season with 18.3 points per game, boosted by her 34-point game over Oklahoma the last time the Bulls were at home. 
  • Beatriz Jordao leads the American Athletic Conference in field goal percentage with 67.9 percent.
  • Sydni Harvey is the reigning American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week after combining for 52 points in three games last week, including a 10-of-15 clip from beyond the arc
