USF Set to Host Albany in NCAA Preliminary Round Saturday

TAMPA, Nov. 5, 2018 — The USF women's soccer team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and was selected to host Albany in the first round. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium.
 
This will be the Bulls' fourth appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last five years and fifth overall. All appearances have been under the leadership of head coach Denise Schilte-Brown.
 
Saturday's match will mark the fourth time the Bulls have hosted the opening round of the NCAA tournament. USF finished the season 14-3-0 and went 8-1-0 in the regular season, making its seven straight seasons of 10 or more wins.


USF earned its first American Athletic Conference regular season title with a rivalry win over UCF in the regular season finale, and finished as runner-up in The American tournament.

The Opponent
The Great Danes visit USF with a 15-6-2 record, 5-2-1 in the American East. Albany defeated UMass Lowell in the American East Championship on Sunday to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA preliminary round.
 
The Bulls and the Great Danes have never met, and Saturday's match will be Albany's first game against a ranked opponent this season.

View the full tournament bracket HERE. The 2018 DI women's soccer tournament kicks off the weekend of Nov. 9-11. Second and third rounds continue the following weekend from Nov. 16-18. The four national semifinalists will be determined in the quarterfinals on Nov. 23-24.
 
The Women's College Cup will then be hosted by WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina on Nov. 30 (semifinals) and Dec. 2 (championship game).
