TAMPA,
Nov. 8, 2018 — USF women's soccer's
Evelyne Viens has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic-All-America ballot.
Viens (Canada) is the first All-District selection for USF women's soccer since 2006 when defender Jenna Ball (Tampa) was named to the second team. Viens is an accounting major who boasts a 3.72 GPA in her junior year. In addition to her incredible hard work in the classroom, Viens spends her time breaking records on the pitch.
The star forward has appeared in every match since she arrived at USF. She has netted 47 goals in Green and Gold, breaking the record previously set at 41. This season, Viens also broke the record for goals in a season with 19. She previously tied the record at 16 in her freshman season.
Viens' all-district selection isn't her first accolade this season. She started the season on the MAC Hermann watch list, was named The American Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and was unanimous selection for the preseason all-conference team. Viens was also a regular season all-conference unanimous selection and The American Offensive Player of the Year. She was the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week once (Oct. 15), and has been named The American player of the week twice and honor roll four times.
The star striker for the Bulls leads the nation in goals per game (1.12), points per game (2.53) and total points (43). Viens recently tied the USF record for points in a season set at 43 by Kristine Edner in 1998.
Watch Viens and the Bulls take on Albany in their fifth NCAA appearance when they host the preliminary round on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium.
