TAMPA, DEC. 11, 2018 – The Mack Attack helped the Indianapolis Colts stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in Week 14 of the NFL season.
Marlon Mack registered his fifth rushing touchdown of the season with a 4-yard scoring run that sparked a 17-point second quarter for Indianapolis in the Colts' 24-21 road victory at Houston on Sunday.
Indianapolis (7-6) has won six of its past seven games and increased its chances of an AFC Wild Card spot by knocking off the AFC South Division-leading Texans. Next up for Mack and Colts is a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, followed by tests against the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.
Mack rushed for 33 yards on 14 attempts at Houston, moving closer to doubling his rushing yards total from his NFL rookie season in 2017. This season, the former USF standout has gained 616 yards on 131 attempts (4.7 ypc) in nine games (eight starts). He also has 12 receptions for 90 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown catch in the first of five straight wins for the Colts from Oct. 21-Nov. 25.
As a playmaking Bull, Mack rushed for at least 1,000 yards in all three of his seasons at USF (2014-16) before he was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Sarasota, Fla., native ranks second in USF history with 3,609 rushing yards, 4,107 all-purpose yards and 32 rushing touchdowns. He has a share of the USF record with five straight 100-yard rushing games and still owns the Bulls' top season mark of nine 100-yard rushing games (2015).
