WINTER PARK, Fla.,Ā Ā Dec. 20, 2018 āĀ USF saw its best comeback effort of the season fall short when USF overcame a 21-point deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter before Creighton completed an 8-0 run to take down the Bulls 83-76 at the Florida Sunshine Classic on Thursday.Ā

Creighton (5-5) came out hot and hit six threes in the first ten minutes to take a 30-14 first quarter lead. USF (9-3) started to settle in the second quarter, but couldn't shut down Audrey Faber who hit 6-of-6 from the field to score 15 of CU's points by halftime.Ā

Down 53-35 at the break, USF shot out of the locker room and cut the deficit to as little as 11 in the third quarter behind power treys from
Enna PehadzicĀ (Horsens, Denmark)Ā who had a breakout night. The guard earned 20 points and 11 rebounds for career highs in both categories for her first career double-double. She led USF in points, rebounds and three-pointers made in her fourth consecutive night in double-figure scoring. Pehadzic's performance helped USF to a 53-64 outcome heading into the final period.Ā

The Bulls stampeded to a 12-2 run to open the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to one, 65-61 with six minutes to play. Creighton's Jaylyn Agnew completed a three-point play to extend the lead to four. But Pehadzic hit a jumper and
Laura Ferreira (Lisboa, Portugal)Ā hit a three-pointer to complete the 21-point comeback and take a 70-69 lead. But it did not last, as Creighton's Temi Carda ran off six straight points and the Bluejays never looked back.Ā

The holiday neutral site tournaments have been unkind to USF, who is without superstar
Kitija Laksa this season. In a stormy day at the Florida Sunshine Classic, USF suffered just its third loss of the year.Ā

USF shot 44.4 percent on the night but were upstaged by Creighton with 50.0 percent shooting. CU hit 14-of-29Ā Ā from beyond the arc, while the Bulls connected on just 7-of-23. USF out-rebounded the Bluejays 39-to-31 on the night and saw four Bulls score in double figures.Ā
