Bulls End 2018 With Highest Final Ranking in Program History

TAMPA, Dec. 5, 2018 – USF women's soccer wrapped up the 2018 season with the highest final ranking in program history when the Bulls checked in at No. 19 (United Soccer Coaches) and No. 16 (Top Drawer Soccer).

Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown and Bulls had a stellar 15-4-0 season, finishing in the second round of the NCAA tournament, where they led the would-be national champions FSU, 1-0, before ultimately falling 3-1. USF snapped FSU's 13-match home shutout streak in NCAA tournament play with junior Aubrey Megrath's (West Palm Beach, Fla.) goal in the 35th minute.

In 2018, USF also claimed its first ever American Athletic Conference regular season championship with an 8-1 record in The American. The Bulls hard work in conference play was rewarded with hosting rights to The American championship tournament. USF advanced to the championship match for the second straight year, and finished as The American runner-up. After the championship loss, USF was granted an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they would host the first round for the fourth time in program history.

Junior forward Evelyne Viens (Canada) added to the Bulls' incredible season when she became a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American for the second time, remaining the only player in history to receive All-America honors for USF women's soccer.

For the first time this season, USF was either ranked in the Top 25 or receiving votes in both polls through every week of action. The Bulls have finished five other seasons receiving votes, 1998, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2017. However, this is the first season the Bulls have ever been ranked in the Top 25 in the final rankings of the season.
