The Bulls Hit the Road to take on No. 21 Texas and SMU
TAMPA (February 14, 2018) -- After a week off, the USF women's tennis team will head to Texas to take on head coach
Cristina Moros' alma mater No. 21 Texas on Friday at 1:00 p.m., and SMU on Sunday at noon for the first conference match of the season.
The Bulls (1-4) are coming off a win, 5-2, against Troy at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
Freshman
Evelyne Tiron was the force behind the team's win defeating her opponent at the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-2.
On court three, freshman
Alexandria Mjos (Austin, Texas) and sophomore
Janvhi Clark (Tauranga, New Zealand) secured the doubles point, 6-2, putting the Bulls in the lead during singles.
Scouting the Opponent:
University of Texas
Coming off a three-game losing streak against three ranked opponents (No. 5 Georgia, No. 9 Ole Miss, and No. 16 South Carolina), The Longhorns line up against the Bulls with a 5-4 record.
The Bulls are faced with four ranked opponents on this Texas team with Bianca Turati being the No. 1 player in ITA Tennis rankings. Last weekend she defeated two tough opponents, No. 8 Katrina Jokic (UGA) and No. 118 Mia Horvit (USC) which kept her undefeated season at, 5-0 on court one.
The other three ranked players include No. 41 Anna Turati, No. 64 Petra Granic, and No. 115 Bojana Markovic.
SMU
The Mustangs head into Sunday's match with two wins against Collin College, 7-0, and Northwestern State, 6-1.
Against Collin College, each player defeated their opponent in straight sets with some courts not giving up any points at all. The Mustangs gave up one point on court one in singles against Northwestern State.
The Bulls are looking to defeat the Mustangs for the second year in a row.
