USF’s Carter Helps Power Jamaica to Final Round of CONCACAF Caribbean Women's Qualifiers

TAMPA (May 15, 2018) USF alumna Trudi Carter scored a goal in the 44th minute for the Jamaican Women's National Team to help the squad draw Haiti, 2-2, and clinch a spot in the CONCACAF Caribbean Women's Qualifiers (CCWQ).

Haiti took a 2-0 lead with goals in the 24th and 43rd minutes, but Carter struck just a minute later to kickstart the comeback for the Jamaicans. She made easy work of a close-up opportunity in the 44th minute, and her teammate found the equalizer in the 66th minute.

The top three teams from the final round will qualify for the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship Oct. 4-17 in the United States.  Group A of the confederation qualifiers is set to be played in Cary, N.C., while Group B will be contested in Edinburg, Texas.

The final stage will then take place in Frisco, Texas, with the top three teams qualifying as the Concacaf representatives to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.

The fourth-place finisher will engage in an intercontinental playoff for the possibility of qualifying another CONCACAF team.
