TAMPA, MAY 24, 2018 – Four Bulls competed in three different events on the first day of action at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field East Preliminary.

Juniors Joe Fogarasi and David Bell represented the program in the pole vault Thursday morning at USF Track and Field Stadium. Freshman Imani Carmouche competed in the high jump while junior Jada Massie ran the women's 100 meters right in front of the home fans in the stands.

The prestigious event continues Friday and concludes Saturday with more than 1,700 student-athletes from over 170 programs competing at the home of the Bulls.  The top 12 qualifiers from the NCAA East and West (Sacramento, Calif.) Preliminaries advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be held June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore.

Fogarasi, Bell Compete in Pole Vault
Juniors Joe Fogarasi and David Bell both competed in the pole vault competition and ended up with top jumps of 16-4.75.

Fogarasi cleared 16-4.75 on his first attempt and tied for the 22nd-best performance. The Columbia, Conn., native competed as an all-conference honoree after placing third at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with a mark of 16-4.00. Fogarasi's top jump this season of 16-6.75 ranks ninth in USF outdoor history.

Bell reached the 16-4.75 mark on his third jump and tied for the 30th-best performance of the day. The Jacksonville, Fla., native made a return trip to the NCAA East Preliminary after setting the new USF indoor and outdoor pole vault records this season.

Carmouche Gains NCAA Postseason Experience
Impressive freshman Imani Carmouche capped off her first trip to the NCAA East Preliminary by competing in the women's high jump.

The Mt. Zion, Ga., native cleared 5-5.00 on her first attempt and 5-7.00 on her third attempt to tie for 34th overall in the event. Carmouche qualified for prelims with a career-best height of 5-8.00, which she reached twice this season and most recently at the conference outdoor event.

Massie Makes Return Trip to Prelims
Junior Jada Massie made her second straight trip to the NCAA East Preliminary and ran the women's 100 meters in 11.68 seconds to finish 43rd overall.

The Bradenton, Fla., native qualified for prelims with a season-best time of 11.51 seconds, which ranks third on the USF outdoor chart.
