August 27, 2018 | Men's Soccer
ANN ARBOR, Mich., August 27, 2018–USF dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 21 Michigan on Monday night at U-M Soccer Stadium, while playing with just 10 men due to the ejection of Henrique Gallina (Atibaia, Brazil) in the first half.
Junior goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares (Sydney, Australia) was a bright spot on the night for the Bulls, racking up a career-high six saves in the intense matchup against the Wolverines.
Michigan's first-half goal came on a free kick from Mohammed Zakyi just outside the 18-yard box following a yellow card issued to Henrique Gallina. The Bulls had four shots in the first half and keeper Harrison Devenish-Meares already tallied three saves on the night.
The turmoil came for the Bulls when Gallina was shown a second yellow card and ejected from the game 42 minutes in, leaving USF to play with 10 men the rest of the way. In the second half, Michigan's Robbie Mertz put away the game with a goal from the left side, finalizing the fate for USF.
USF falls to 0-2-0 on the young season, while Michigan improves to 1-1-0.
