Viens, Martinez Earn Player of the Week Honors From The American
TAMPA, AUG. 27, 2018 – USF was represented with two American Athletic Conference players of the week and a one player named to the honor roll after defeating No. 17 Baylor on Friday night, the league announced Monday.
Junior
Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) was named offensive player of the week and freshman
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) was named goalkeeper of the week. Redshirt junior
Kelli Burney was named to the honor roll for the second straight week.
Viens was an important offensive force for USF in the 3-1 victory over the Bears on Friday night. She had a direct impact on all three goals scored by the Bulls. She was credited with an assist on the first two goals, and scored the third one off assists from
Leah Ferlin (Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Katie Kitching (Bedale, England).
Freshman goalkeeper
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) completed the night with six saves for a career high. Prior to visiting USF, Baylor's high-power offense scored eight goals in just two games. Martinez was able to limit the Bears to just one.
Redshirt junior
Kelli Burney (Bealeton, Va.) was named to The American honor roll after helping lead the Bulls' defense which blocked six shots from Baylor.

The USF women's soccer team has posted six consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and eight in the last nine years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
