TAMPA, AUG. 29, 2018 – No. 24 USF women's soccer will take on Detroit Mercy at Corbett Soccer stadium on Thursday at 7 p.m.
 
USF broke into the United Soccer Coaches' Poll at No. 24 this week after dominating No. 17/20 Baylor, 3-1, last Friday night. Junior forward Evelyne Viens (Canada) earned The American Offensive Player of the Week honor after her performance that included two assists and one goal.
 
Freshman keeper Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) also had an exciting night with a career-high six saves and 15 shots faced, which earned her goalkeeper of the week honors from the league. Redshirt junior Kelli Burney (Bealeton, Va.) was recognized on The American Honor Roll for the second straight week after leading the defense with six blocked shots from the Bears.

Detroit Mercy
The Titans are 1-2 this season with a 1-0 shutout win over Central Michigan on Sunday. Detroit Mercy defender Carly Fiorido was honored as the Horizon League's Offensive Player of the Week after the match. The senior helped the Titans shut out the Chippewas and netted the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining in the match.

  • Junior Evelyne Viens ranks 43rd nationally in shots per game (4.33)
