Bulls Post Record Cumulative GPA, 253 Student-Athletes Earn Honor Roll Recognition

TAMPA, JAN. 15, 2019 – USF Athletics saw 253 of its nearly 450 student-athletes earn Athletics Honor Roll accolades following the 2018 fall term as the Bulls posted a record cumulative grade-point average of 3.12.

USF had 270 student-athletes (62.2 percent) earn a 3.0 grade-point average or better in the fall term and 30 earn a 4.0 GPA as the department logged a term GPA of over 3.0 for a record eighth straight term.

The football team led the way on the fall Honor Roll with 30 student-athletes earning the academic recognition. The women's cross country team had 25 student-athletes honored, while sailing had 24, the conference champion women's soccer and softball teams each had 23, and women's track had 22. The men' soccer team had 18 members named to the Honor Roll, baseball had 15.

The Bulls' 253 student-athletes earning Honor Roll accolades in the fall is 14 more than the 239 honored in the fall of 2017.

USF saw 13 of 17 teams post a fall term GPA of 3.0 or better and 14 teams post better than a 3.0 cumulative GPA following the completion of the 2018 fall term. The Bulls had 279 student-athletes (64.1 percent) post a 3.0 cumulative GPA following completion of the fall term, among those 131 posted a 3.5 GPA or better. The department logged a combined term GPA of 3.04, its eighth straight term over a 3.0 dating to the spring of 2015.

USF had 26 student-athletes earn degrees in the fall and has seen 209 earn their degree since the 2016-17 school year.

About USF Athletics
USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men's and women's teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls' athletic program began in 1965 and is in its 53rd season in 2018-19. Nearly 500 student-athletes train and compete in the athletic district located on the east end of the campus in Tampa, Fla. The Bulls have claimed 16 American Athletic Conference team titles since joining the conference in 2013, including at least three in each of the last three seasons, and own 113 conference championships overall. Nine USF programs reached national post-season competition in the 2017-18 season and six were ranked in the Top 25 nationally. The Bulls posted a combined annual grade-point average over 3.0 for the third straight year in 2017-18 and have posted a program record eight straight semesters with a combined GPA over 3.0. USF has seen more than 200 student-athletes earn their degree in the last two years.
