Viens and Bulls Named NCAA Statistical Champions
TAMPA, Jan. 17, 2019 – After a historic season, USF women's soccer was named the NCAA Statistical Champion for goals per game, and star forward
Evelyne Viens was named the statistical champion for both goals and points per game.
The Bulls led the nation in scoring offense for the majority of the season, finishing with 2.84 goals per game. USF (15-4) made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament for just the third time in program history after defeating UAlbany in the Bulls' highest-scoring NCAA Tournament win. USF outscored opponents 54-18 during the season.
Two-time All-American Viens (Canada) finished the season as the statistical champion for points (2.47) and goals (1.05) per game. The forward recorded a brace in six games, including one four-goal effort against Florida College (Sept. 21).
The junior from Quebec, Canada, also broke three USF records during the 2018 season, but owns four, including season goals (20), season points (47) and career goals (48). She led the Bulls in five categories including points (47), shots (91), goals (20), shots on goal (51) and game-winning goals (6). Viens' six game-winners tied the USF record for the most in a season program history, a record she set last season.
