Harvey’s Career High Earns AAC Freshman of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 21, 2019USF women's basketball player Sydni Harvey, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn., has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week after leading the Bulls over Tulane (receiving votes) in a stunning 73-46 victory.

The freshman earned 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and three free throws. The point total led all scorers and set a career high for the freshman. Harvey also sunk 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, tying her career high for three pointers made. She also added a team-high four assists, and went a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line. On the season, Harvey is the only player in The American shooting above 90 percent from the charity stripe at 90.8 for the season.

Harvey teamed up with Enna Pehadzic, who scored a career-high 21 points, to combine for 46 Bulls' points. The scoring bulk is a needed boost for USF (11-7, 2-2 AAC) who is missing more than 50 points from five unavailable players. USF pulled off the improbable victory behind the duo's efforts alongside a double-double from Shae Leverett (Rincon, Ga.).

Pehadzic was also named to the American Honor Roll for her contribution. Her career-high 21 points came from a career-highfive 3-pointers alongside grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out three assists.

Harvey and the Bulls return to action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Yuengling Center against Memphis. USF will then travel to Dallas to take on SMU on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
