Bulls Cap Regular Season at FSU Invitational
October 11, 2019 | Cross Country
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., OCT. 11, 2019 – Freshman Alexandra Weir placed 13th overall to lead the USF cross country team Friday morning at the FSU Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park.
Weir (Toronto, Ontario) turned in a time of 18:08.9 in the 5K race to register a new personal best time, surpassing her previous best of 18:17.50 she posted Sept. 14 at the Mountain Dew Invitational.
Fellow freshman Alec Latzke (Safety Harbor, Fla.) was the top finisher for the men by placing 60th overall with a time of 26:29.3 in the 8K race.
"I can see the improvement as an overall team over the past month," USF distance coach Damon Griffiths said. "For the women to finish sixth overall was a big step in the right direction. It is great when you can leave a meet having several personal bests and know that there is more left in the tank. The men ran a complete race today and are learning to trust each other within a pack. We will turn our focus now to the AAC meet and making the adjustments needed to improve on today's outing."
USF returns to action Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. when the Bulls travel to Memphis, Tenn., to race at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
