TAMPA, Oct. 20, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team (10-3; 5-1 The American) earned the shutout victory on Senior Day against the Temple Owls (4-9-4; 2-5-1 The American), 2-0. Senior forward Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Canada) broke the American Athletic Conference record with her 62^nd career goal.
 
On a day where the seniors were honored, the graduating class delivered on the pitch for the team. Viens scored a record-breaking goal while Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) netted the other goal for the team on a penalty kick. Rebekah Anderson (Valrico, Fla.), Brianna Blethen (Bradenton, Fla.) and Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) also all had scoring opportunities for the Bulls.
 
South Florida applied pressure from the opening kickoff. The Bulls dominated possession and generated multiple scoring opportunities.
 
Rosalia Muino Gonzalez (Coruna, Spain), Blethen and Viens paired together on an attack opportunity in the 25^th minute. Blethen took a shot from distance that created a rebound opportunity in front of the net. Muino Gonzalez and Viens followed up on the rebound, with Viens sending it to the back of the net to give USF a 1-0 lead. Both Blethen and Muino Gonzalez would earn assists on the goal.
 
After the break at halftime, the Owls generated some pressure as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) stood strong in net, however, and stopped both shots that Temple took to preserve her shutout victory.
 
In the 70^th minute, Emma Davies (St. Catherines, Canada) pushed into the box and was looking to take a shot when she was fouled, giving USF a chance to extend its lead. Senior midfielder Hauksdottir stepped up to take the penalty and converted, giving USF all it needed to win the match, 2-0.
 
The shutout victory marked Martinez's second shutout of the season and sixth shutout of her career.
