South Florida Re-enters United Soccer Coaches Poll at No. 24
TAMPA, Oct. 29, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's soccer program is now ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll for the first time since Sept. 17 at No. 24. The Bulls also moved up two spots to No. 19 in the rankings released by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
USF (12-3; 7-1 The American) won both of its matches on the road last week. The Bulls used a shutout effort from
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) and a goal from
Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) to defeat Cincinnati on Oct. 24. Three days later, Viens,
Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) and
Fanny Pelletier-Laroche (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) scored in a 3-1 win at ECU.
Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) also tallied two assists against the Pirates.
South Florida has one match left in the regular season. The annual War on I-4 at UCF is on Thursday with a 6 p.m. kickoff. The Bulls clinched a first-round bye in the American Athletic Conference Tournament with a win over ECU. USF will now be a one- or two-seed and will play in the semifinals on Nov. 7.
Viens earned her second consecutive American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Martinez also earned her first AAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, while Pelletier-Laroche was named to the AAC weekly honor roll.
