FORT MYERS, FLA., OCT. 7, 2019 – USF women's tennis is back home from its second tournament of the fall season, the Bedford Cup hosted by FGCU.

Despite leaving without any new titles, the Bulls had an impressive showing with multiple players reaching the semifinal and final rounds

Selin Yaylali (Gainseville, Fla.) and Lucia Garrigues-Melendez (Valencia, Spain) formed a formidable pair, advancing all the way to the doubles final round in Group B. The top-seeded tandem eventually fell to Alba Retortillo and Lourdes Ramalle of host team FGCU, 6-1.

USF collected 10 total wins over the weekend, including Alexandria Mjos (Austin, Texas) overwhelming the Eagles' No. 1 singles player, Maja Ornberg, in the first round, 6-2, 6-2.

Other wins included third-set tiebreaker victories from Janvhi Clark (Tauranga, New Zealand) and newcomer Grace Eland (Manchester, England). Clark came back from a first-set loss to defeat UNF's Lea Grinberg, 7-6 (6), 10-3. Eland followed suit, moving on from her first defeat to overpower War on I-4 rival UCF's Domenika Turkovic in the remaining sets, 6-3, 10-8.
