South Florida Leaps Ahead in TopDrawerSoccer, United Soccer Coaches Poll

TAMPA, Nov. 12, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team moved up 11 spots in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll to check in this week at No. 11 in the nation. The Bulls also re-entered the United Soccer Coaches poll all the way up at No. 17, its highest ranking in the poll this season.

USF (14-4) used four goals from Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) to win the American Athletic Conference Championship. Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) only allowed one goal in 180 minutes in the two wins to help the Bulls to the title as well.

Viens, Martinez, Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) and Sydny Nasello were all placed on the all-tournament team. Viens was also named the tournament's most outstanding offensive player, while Martinez was selected most outstanding defensive player.

The Bulls won their third title in the last three years. The team previously won the AAC Tournament in 2017 and won the regular season crown in 2018. The victory in the tournament gave the Bulls their sixth overall and third consecutive selection to the NCAA tournament.

USF will now travel to face Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gators are unranked in the TopDrawerSoccer poll and are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
