Men’s tennis alumni have won big in professional contention, including Roberto Cid’s recent ITF Pro Futures Event victory in Fayetteville, Ark.
TAMPA, Nov. 06, 2019 – USF men's tennis alumni have racked up professional tournament wins and career-high rankings since graduation.
Roberto Cid (2016) is currently No. 264 in worldwide rankings after winning the 25k ITF Pro Futures Event in Fayetteville, Ark. This marks his third futures title of the year following wins in Memphis, Tenn., and Gyor, Hungary. Last Monday, Cid fell to No. 294 JC Arragone during an ATP Challenger event in Charlottesville, Va.
Â
With another Challenger appearance under his belt from his bout in Knoxville, Tenn. Monday, Cid hopes to play in January's Australian Open. The former Bull's current ranking and potential wins will help him qualify for the event.
Â
Cid will be getting married in December to his fiancé Jessica Cortes Chaves, a former USF women's tennis player, in Mexico City.

Quotable Head coach Ashley Fisher on the recent graduates' success:
"It's nice to see our alumni on the tour having success. They've bought into the concept that USF men's tennis is a steppingstone towards the pros and that's something we take pride in. I spent most of my adult life on the ATP World Tour and now I wake up every day thinking of how to use those years to help our guys develop the skills they will need to transition from college to professional tennis."
