MEMPHIS, Tenn., Nov. 6, 2019 – The No. 23 University of South Florida women's soccer program enters the American Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals after earning a first-round bye in the competition. In Memphis, Tenn., the Bulls will play the UCF Knights for the second time in a week after the teams wrapped up their regular seasons in Orlando on Oct. 31.
 
In the regular season finale, the Bulls (12-4; 7-2 The American) played UCF close all game, but ultimately had its six-match winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss in Orlando.
 
Eveylne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) was named the American Athletic Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year and Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) was named the AAC's Midfielder of the Year on Tuesday. Five Bulls were also placed on all-conference teams. Viens and Hauksdottir were named to first team all-conference. Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) was placed on the all-conference second team, while Lucy Roberts (Cheshire, England) and Rosalia Muino Gonzalez (Coruna, Spain) earned a spot on The American's All-Rookie Team.
 
UCF (11-3-4, 5-2-2)
The UCF Knights defeated the University of Houston in the American Athletic Conference Tournament first round on Sunday. The Knights shut out the Cougars in the 5-0 win.
 
UCF is led on offense by sophomore forward Kristen Scott, whose eight goals and 17 points lead the team. Just behind Scott is senior midfielder Zandy Soree with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. In goal, redshirt freshman Carolina DeLisle has started all 16 matches for the Knights. She has posted a 0.47 GAA and a 0.859 save percentage so far.
 
NOTABLES
  • Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Canada) was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. Voting is open until Nov. 18 and the winner will be announced during the College Cup in December.
  • USF placed five student-athletes on the all-conference team for the second straight season.
  • The Bulls outshot opponents in every game this season. Entering the postseason, USF compiled a plus-182 shot differential.
