TAMPA, Feb. 10, 2019 – USF men's tennis won its second straight match when it defeated FAU 4-3 in a nail-biter finish Sunday afternoon. 
 
USF (4-4) faced FAU (5-5) at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. Match play started with FAU clinching the doubles point with wins on courts one, two and three, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, respectively.
 
FAU continued its momentum with a straight-set, 6-3, 6-1, win on court five over Ivan Yatsuk (Minsk, Belarus). No. 19 Alberto Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) put USF on the board, going 6-0, 6-3 on court one. This win gave Barroso-Campos the most singles wins (6) for American Conference players in the ITA Top 25.
 
The match, now 2-1, continued with Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach, Fla.) picking up the second point for the Bulls, 6-4, 6-1 on court four. Freshman Sergio Gomez Montesa (Valencia, Spain) kept this three-match win streak alive, going 6-4, 6-2, which gave USF a 3-2 lead over the Owls.
 
FAU's Kirac Bekisoglu answered with a 6-3, 7-5 takedown of Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) on court two, tying the match at three points for each team.
 
Attention turned to court three where Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) challenged FAU's Gabriel Sidney. Luquet fell, 4-6, in the first set, but came back in set two (6-3) and force a third-set tiebreaker. Luquet dominated the final set, 6-1, clinching a 4-3 win for USF.
