USF Prepares to Challenge No. 13 TCU
TAMPA, Feb. 25, 2019 – USF men's tennis hosts No. 13 TCU Tuesday, as they prepare to protect their undefeated home record.
USF (6-4) is coming off a strong four-match winning streak, after defeating Charlotte and Mercer at home, 5-2, 7-0, respectively. With their unbeaten streak at home this season, the 2019 Bulls have a 5-0 home record for the first time since 2015.
No. 25
Alberto Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) and
Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) are both experiencing a four-match winning streak. Barroso-Campos leads the team with a 9-1 singles record on the top court, and Luquet is 5-4 on court three.
Freshman
Tobias Sonne (Buenos Aires, Argentina) remains undefeated in singles, posting a 2-0 record on court six.
Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach, Fla.) has the longest doubles winning streak among the Bulls, winning his last four matches alongside
Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) and
Ivan Yatsuk (Minsk, Belarus).
Scouting the Opponent
No. 13 TCU holds a 7-3 record as they travel to South Florida, led by head coach David Roditi, his ninth season with the Horned Frogs. TCU remains on the road after recent wins on No. 30 Tulane, 4-3, and No. 7 UCLA, 4-0.
The Horned Frogs have three players in the ITA singles Top 100. No. 6 Alex Rybakov holds a 5-1 record on court one, No. 62 Alastair Gray is 6-1 primarily on court two, and No. 83 Bertus Kruger is 7-3 on court four.
Kruger and senior Reese Stalder are No. 26 in doubles competition, leading the team with a 7-3 record on court two.
The Bulls last faced TCU during the 2018 season, falling 1-6 to the No.18 team despite a singles point pick up by Luquet on court three.
