USF Ready to Challenge Stetson and FAU at Home
TAMPA, Feb. 8, 2019 – USF returns home after a five-match road swing to host Stetson on Saturday at 10 a.m. and FAU on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Varsity Tennis Courts.

USF (2-4) is coming off a 6-1 loss to Baylor last Friday, but the Bulls were led by No. 19
Alberto Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) who upset No. 33 Johannes Schretter. Barroso-Campos eventually won the super tiebreaker, 1-0 (10-8), after a 3-6, 6-3 bout on court one.

Sergio Gomez Montesa (Valencia, Spain) secured his first career ranked win, in a 7-6 (5), 6-3 defeat of No. 78 Florian Braska from Mississippi State on Sunday.

USF last saw Stetson during their 2015 home opener, where the Bulls dominated the Hatters, winning the match 4-0. FAU and USF last faced off in 2018, at home, where the Owls left victorious, 4-0.

Stetson
Stetson continues the 2019 season with a 2-2 record, coming off a recent 7-0 win against FAMU. The Hatters ended last season with the most program wins since 2011 (18-4) but fell to UNF in the ASUN Championship tournament. Christophe Noblet returns for his fourth season as head coach of the Hatters, carrying a career record of 45-23.

Sophomore Antoine Sanchez paces the Hatters, bringing a 12-8 singles record and a 14-3 doubles record from 2018. He mostly played on court four and owns a 1-1 clip this season. Freshman Clement Hamel leads the Hatters with a singles record, of 3-1, playing primarily on court two.

FAU
The Owls continue their season with record of 4-4 after losing their most recent match to No. 4 Florida, 4-0. FAU's 2018 season ended with the second-most program wins in history (19-10). Their season came to a close with a loss to No. 33 Old Dominion in the Conference USA Tournament championship. Head coach Ricardo Gonzalez is 73-53.

Senior Gabriel Sidney returns for the Owls with a 1-6 singles and a 3-4 doubles record. Last season, Sidney along with Remi Chancerel, won 12 doubles matches, the seventh most in FAU history.

Freshmen Alvaro Fernandez Horta and Kirac Bekisoglu start their college careers with the Owls, with the Horta leading the team in singles, 5-1 on court six. Bekisoglu owns a 3-5 record primarily on the first two courts. Sophomores Jason Legall and Ignacio Garcia lead the team in doubles, with a 5-3 record on the premiere court.

The Bulls will play Stetson, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. and FAU, Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
