No. 29 Alberto Barroso-Campos Named The American Player of the Week
TAMPA, March 12, 2019 – USF men's tennis' Alberto Barroso-Campos was named American conference player of the week after a 2-0 weekend against opponents from No. 42 Tulane and No. 4 Virginia.
Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) went 2-0 at No. 1 singles as part of a 1-1 week for USF against two nationally ranked opponents, extending his winning streak to six matches and improving to 11-1 on the year.
The senior began the week with a 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-1 win in a 4-3 team victory against No. 42 Tulane. He followed with a straight-set victory (6-0, 7-6 (5)) against the No. 15-rated player nationally in a 4-3 setback to No. 4 Virginia. Barroso-Campos is No. 29 in the national singles ratings and No. 77 in the doubles ratings with a 6-1 doubles record.
