Bulls Finish Tied for Third at Duplin Women’s Team Race

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., March 25, 2019 – The USF women's sailing team secured its third top-five finish of the spring, tying for third at Duplin Women's Team Race on Sunday in Medford, Mass.

Of the nine schools that competed, only two were not ranked in the top-10. USF finished behind Brown and Boston College and tied with Boston University.

With the schedule alteration, USF competed at Mass. Maritime in a minor regatta on Saturday and took first place.

Nota-Bulls

Sophomores Marina Barzaghi (Saunderstown, R.I.), Katie Bornarth (Jensen Beach, Fla.) and Samantha Kappaz, seniors Darby Capellin (Bradenton, Fla.) and Rachel Yannelli (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) and junior Delaney Brown (West Palm, Fla.) all competed.

"Overall it was a fantastic one-day Duplin women's team race regatta at Tufts," said head coach Allison Jolly. "There's plenty of room for improvement, but we came on strong at the end, winning five of our last six races to end up with an even record at 5-5."

About USF Sailing
The USF sailing program has reached the national finals in six of the last seven years. The Bulls finished in the top 10 during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The sailing team is based out of St. Petersburg and led by head coach Allison Jolly, a former USA Olympian and 2016 Florida Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
