ORLANDO, APRIL 13, 2019 – No. 45 USF fell to No. 23 UCF, 4-2, in the War on I-4 at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus.
USF (11-10, 4-2), dropped the doubles point to rival UCF (19-3, 6-0), after a 6-2 loss on court two and a 6-1 loss on court three. The match on court one went unfinished.
UCF won on court one against freshman
Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritis), 6-4, 6-2, to extend its lead, 2-0.
The Bulls then rallied, with sophomore
Alexandria Mjos (Austin, Texas), winning her match 6-4, 6-3, on court six and freshman
Laura Pellicer Perello, (Gandia, Valencia, Spain), winning her match 7-5, 6-4, on court three to tie the match at 2-2.
The Knights responded on court five with a win over senior
Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), 6-1, 6-4, giving UCF a 3-2 lead. Senior No. 56
Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), fell to No. 89 Ksenia Kuznetsova, 6-3, 6-2, on court one, clinching the match for the Knights. The match on court two went unfinished.
