No. 44 USF fell, 4-0, to No. 32 UCF in the Bulls’ regular season finale.

TAMPA, April 14, 2019 –USF men's tennis fell to No. 32 UCF, 4-0, in the regular season finale at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts, Sunday afternoon.

UCF (12-9) started doubles action with a 6-1, court-two win against pair Niels Van Noord (Quebec, Canada) and Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach, Fla.). No. 24 duo Trey Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel secured the doubles point for the Knights with a 6-4 defeat of No. 67 tandem Alberto Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) and Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) on court one.

The Knights entered singles with a 1-0 lead and continued their march with a win on court four against Wojcik, 6-1, 6-1, and on court six, 6-2, 6-2, against Van Noord.

Action continued on the remaining courts with Barroso-Campos forcing a third set on court one against No. 32 Gabriel Decamps, and Luquet winning his first set, 7-6 (7), and taking a lead in his second.

Despite the Bulls' potential comeback, Alan Rubio of the Knights clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set win against Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) on court two.

"Full credit to UCF who just flat out were a better team than us today. We had good moments where we competed well but we need to do a better of job of that being the standard from first ball to last.
