TAMPA, SEPT. 17, 2019 – Former standout USF lineman
Austin Reiter is paving the way for one of the most potent offenses in the NFL this season.

The fourth-year pro made his second straight start at center for Kansas City, which generated 464 yards in a 28-10 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 2. Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 443 yards and had four touchdown passes in the second quarter of the Chiefs' second straight victory.
With Reiter providing solid protection, Kansas City leads the NFL with 405.5 passing yards per game. The Chiefs also rank third in total offense (477.5 ypg) and fourth in scoring offense (34.0 ppg).
Reiter has started six games for the Chiefs since the beginning of last season after playing in 17 games for the Cleveland Browns from 2016-17. The Bradenton, Fla., native was rewarded by the Chiefs in December with a
two-year contract extension that will pay a maximum of $5.5 million and included a $1 million signing bonus.
Prior to being selected by Washington in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Reiter started 36 straight games at center for USF and played in 46 contests from 2011-14. Reiter was named to Phil Steele's American Athletic All-Conference Third Team in 2014 after helping Marlon Mack post the fourth 1,000-yard rushing season in program history.
