Bulls Rise to No. 17 in TopDrawerSoccer.com Rankings
TAMPA, Sept. 2, 2019 – South Florida women's soccer rose four spots to No. 17 in the newest rankings from TopDrawerSoccer.com. The Bulls (2-1) won their only game in a week that was shortened by Hurricane Dorian.
Denise Schilte-Brown's squad defeated Saint Leo in convincing fashion, notching a 2-0 win on Aug. 29.
Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and
Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) netted the goals in the victory while
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) and
Katrina Haarmann (Caledon, Ontario, Canada) combined for the shutout.
Up next, South Florida heads out for a two-game stretch in San Antonio, Texas starting on Friday, Sept. 6. The team will play Rice (2-1) before taking on the University of Texas at San Antonio (2-1) on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Notables
- Megrath's goal against Saint Leo on Aug. 29 moved her into the top-10 on the program's all-time goal scorer list. Her 17 goals now tie her with Demi Strokes (2011-2014) for ninth on the leaderboard.
- The Bulls had five players named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's top-20 players in the American Athletic Conference, more than any other school. Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Canada) topped the list at No. 1, followed by Hauksdottir at No. 2. Following the duo who took over the top of the list, Martinez was put at No. 11, Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) was placed at No. 14, and Fanny Pelletier-Laroche (Quebec, Canada) rounded out South Florida's selections at No. 19.
