TAMPA, Sept. 23, 2019 – Evelyne Viens and
Andrea Hauksdottir were named to the Senior CLASS Award initial candidate pool of 30 seniors nationwide. The award is given annually to seniors who meet certain qualifications both on and off the field.

The Senior CLASS Award is given each year to a senior at a NCAA Division I institution who is going to exhaust their eligibility at the end of the current sports season. The senior must demonstrate notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

The candidate pool will be narrowed down to 10 finalists midway through the regular season. The 10 finalists will be placed on an official ballot that will then be distributed in a national voting system to media, coaches and fans.

The award winner will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Women's College Cup in December.

With the selection of Viens (Quebec, Canada) and Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland), the Bulls were one of three schools to have two players selected to the initial candidate pool. They were also two of the three players chosen from the American Athletic Conference.

"
Evelyne Viens and
Andrea Hauksdottir are hard workers," said head coach
Denise Schilte-Brown. "They are selfless women who excel in all areas of their lives. They are deserving of this opportunity. They represent themselves, the community and USF with pride!"

Viens and Hauksdottir have both been leaders on the team during their time at South Florida. They have been an integral part of the leadership group that has pushed the program to new heights in the last few years.

Last season, Viens and Hauksdottir were named American Offensive Player of the Year and American Midfielder of the Year, respectively. They were both also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for this season.

Viens, an accounting major, and Hauksdottir, a management major, have both excelled in the classroom, posting some of the highest GPAs on the team during their four years on the team. The international duo also lead volunteering efforts for the team.
