LAFAYETTE, LA., SEPT. 30, 2019 – USF men's tennis brought home a doubles title after competing in the first matches of the fall season.

Second-seeded duo Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) and Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) brought the heat and won their first doubles title as a pair. After getting a walk over on LSU and taking down Rice's twosome, 6-3, 6-4, the duo reached the doubles finals against Christopher and Constantin Frantzen from Baylor. Despite losing the first set, 4-6, Ferguson and Luquet focused in and won the next two sets, 6-4, 10-5, clinching the doubles title.

After checking in at No. 97 in ITA preseason rankings, Chase Ferguson battled in singles action, making it all the way to the tournament's semifinal round. The sophomore eventually fell to Makey Rakotamalala of ASU in this round, 3-6, 2-6.

Head coach Ashley Fisher on the impressive showing this weekend:
"It was a good test for Chase and Pierre to go up against some quality competition. They played some good tennis and gave themselves opportunities. Doubles was a highlight as they combined well together and did a lot of good things. We got a lot of footage that we will use to get better, which is always the focus".
