TAMPA, Sept. 5, 2019 – No. 17/RV USF women's soccer will continue a four-game road trip this weekend in San Antonio, Texas to battle in the UTSA Tournament. The Bulls will face off against Rice on Friday, Sept. 6 before going up against UTSA on Sunday, Sept. 8.

No. 17 USF (2-1) rebounded from its loss against Florida with 2-0 shutout win at Saint Leo. Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored the opener and was followed up by Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) later in the match to give USF the victory on Aug. 29. Goaltenders Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) and Katrina Haarmann (Caledon, Ontario, Canada) combined for the shutout. USF's match against Ohio State last week was cancelled due to Hurricane Dorian.

Hauksdottir was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for her three-point performance against Saint Leo. South Florida's defense also played well, limiting Saint Leo to two shots with only one on goal.

RICE (RV) (2-1)
Rice, who is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll, is coming off a 2-1 loss against Alabama on Thursday, Aug. 29. Previously, the Owls were on a two-game winning streak after wins against Oral Roberts and Houston.

This year, Rice is led in attacking by senior forward Haley Kostyshyn and senior midfielder Erin Mikeska and in goal by sophomore Bella Killgore and senior Maya Hoyer. Kostyshyn has two goals and two assists on the young season, leading the team with six points. Mikeska also has two goals. Killgore and Hoyer have split halves in all three Rice games so far. Killgore has a .750 save percentage and a 0.67 goal-against average, while Hoyer has a .800 save percentage and a 1.33 GAA.

UTSA (2-1)
The Roadrunners are coming off a lights-out performance against Grand Canyon, posting a 4-0 shutout victory. Junior Ellis Patterson scored twice in the game while senior goalkeeper Sophie Milich made six saves in the win.

Patterson is pacing the Roadrunners so far this season with her two goals. Lexi Bolton has also added four points (1 goal, 2 assists) during the 2019 campaign. Jil Schneider has spent the most time in net this year for UTSA. In two appearances, she has made four saves and only allowed one goal.
